27. Jurassic Park
Now, to be fair, Michael Crichton’s 1990 techno-thriller Jurassic Park is a pretty fun read. It’s got great characters, a cool concept, and memorable scenes. That said, it just doesn’t have the heart that Spielberg injected when he brought the story to movie theaters in 1993.
While the book made all the dinosaurs seem like terrifying beasts, the movie treats them with a great deal more awe, wonder, and prestige. This is doubly the case for the book/movie sequel, The Lost World, but we’ll get to that.
